The music festival, which will be held for the second time this year in Kozlu district in Zonguldak from July 28 to 31, has been canceled by the district governor’s office.

The festival, which is preparing to bring together many artists from manga to Emre Aydın, from Pinhani to İlkay Akkaya, from Ogün Sanlısoy to Niyazi Koyuncu, has been the target of religious circles for months.

Ali Bektaş, the mayor of AKP, said they were determined to organize the event, which was targeted due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the festival area.

However, the announcement of the event’s cancellation came from the Instagram page opened for the festival.

The statement said:

“Dear participants;

We regret to inform you that we will not be able to organize our Kozlu Music Festival event, which we have been working for a long time with great dedication to organize the second one this year, and which has shown great interest in you, our esteemed music lovers, among July 28 and July 31, which we announced, because we can’t hold it according to the spirit of the festival.

You can return your tickets via the channel you purchased or use them at our KuzeyFest event, which will be held in Sinop on August 4-5-6-7.

Thanks for understanding.”

“FULLY INTERVENTION INTO YOUR LIFESTYLE”

Based on news by Samed Balçık from Cumhuriyet.com.tr According to the municipality officials, while confirming the cancellation decision, they said that the official explanation on the reason could be given later.

CHP Kozlu District Chairperson Ebru Uzun also used the following statements in her assessment of the cancellation:

“It was a festival that young people and the public were looking forward to. It’s not something that can be explained by the legislation, in fact. They canceled it because of the ban on the sale of alcohol between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. in the evening and no music after noon. Tickets for the festival were sold out weeks in advance. It was held last year as well. There were no problems with the same sponsors. The people of Kozlu were also very happy and had fun. For 1 month, there have been festivals organized by our municipalities in Çaycuma, Devrek, the center and now Ereğli. You must ask this governor if this legislation was not there. Zonguldak was allowed some breathing space. We see this decision made for Kozlu this year as an intervention in people’s lifestyles. We view it as an effort by the Deputy Governor of Kozlu District to currying favor with a more royalist attitude than the king.

THE PRESIDENT SAID “THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY”

Kozlu Music Festival, which was first held in Kozlu district last year, was preparing to bring together many artists such as Manga, Emre Aydın, Pinhani, Sagopa Kajmer, Hayko Cepkin, Niyazi Koyuncu with their fans this year.

Kozlu Mayor Ali Bektaş used the following statements when asked about the targeting of the festival on the grounds of “alcohol”:

“Unless there is a situation that disrupts social society, nothing will happen. The aforementioned companies employ hundreds of people in this country. They pay insurance and taxes. We have no right to interfere in anyone’s way of life. We live in a free country. These are people looking for calves under oxen. We did this event last year and it was no problem. These conversations are purely political, maybe the person who started this conversation drinks every night. For fun, they talk. There are heads in this country, there are bigots on the right and bigots on the left. No matter what you do, you can’t love either of them. Fanatics are very dangerous people.”
